Papunet promotes social inclusion and equality for people with speech impairments and people with special needs in the field of learning, understanding and communication.

Papunet offers online information and pastime activities for people with special needs in learning and communication. We also provide an opportunity to communicate through easy-to-use web applications and social media.

Papunet website includes information on speech disability and different means of communication: easy-to-read language and AAC methods (communication with pictures, bliss symbols or manual signs).

Most of Papunet content is in Finnish. Some of the contents are also available in Swedish and the easy-to-use game pages are also in English.

The objective of Papunet is to deliver information on speech impairments, different means of communication and communication aids for the close ones of and professionals and students working with people with special needs. Papunet also produces practical tools and materials for everyday use.

Papunet seeks to encourage more operators, especially in the public sector, to produce accessible and easy-to-read web services. We develop guidelines for creating accessible web services, assess the accessibility of easy-to-read web sites and offer accessibility training and consultation.

Papunet is part of the Finnish Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (FAIDD). Papunet is mainly financed by the Funding Centre for Social Welfare and Health Organisations (STEA).
